

Magdalena T. Torio was born on September 15, 1938 in the Philippines and she had nine siblings. She enjoyed school and was an accomplished softball player in high school. In college, she was certified in the vocational courses for cooking, dress making, cosmetology, stenography, embroidery/crochet and secretarial skills.
She moved to the United States in 1982, and was proud to become an American citizen five years later. She took classes at Mission College and De Anza college focusing on management and billing and coding. For many years, she held positions as a research and development lead and manufacturing lead in several bay area companies. Toward the end of her career, she worked at JC Penny until she retired at the age of 72.
Magdalena enjoyed traveling, and took multiple trips to Europe and returning to visit the Philippines. She enjoyed working in her garden, photography and spending time with her dogs. She enjoyed watching sports, especially both the summer and winter Olympics. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, hosting get-togethers and doing the cooking. She was regarded by her friends as an adviser and was considered to be the matriarch of the extended family. She had a warm personality and a wonderful sense of humor.
Magdalena is survived by her four children, Evelyn, Judy, Caroline and Romulo; her four grand children, Patrick, Kenneth, Andrea and Cassandra; her two sisters, Aurora, Teresa, and one brother, Federico.
