Margaret Ellen Fields

She was born to Rexford and Ruth Perry on February 2, 1941 in Arkansas. The joke was that a ground hog and she shared a day! Marge came from a large family, she had 6 brothers and a sister. Truly eight was the right number. She was a member of the choir at Turlock High School, drove hay truck with her brothers and had a “can do attitude” that came from her mother and father. Marge was married to Ronald (Ron) Thomas Murhammer, raised two daughters, Melissa and Carole and lived in Milpitas, CA. Together, Marge and Ron bought their first house and had family trips to the beach, Turlock and Nevada. She remarried in the early 1990’s to James Lloyd Fields and resided in San Jose, CA. Together they had many grand adventures, several trips to Texas, Washington and a cruise to the Caribbean. Marge worked for CTA/ NEA and retired after 20 years of proud service. She was a successful administrator known for her quick wit, typing and dictation skills.

Marge loved spending time in the kitchen baking pies, cookies and delicious meals for her family. Her pie crust and baking skills were top notch! When it came to holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite! There was no shortage of pies, cookies and holiday trimmings to be spared, Marge excelled in baking, cooking and decorating. Marge also liked to can jams, apricot and pineapple was her favorite. She was a crafter and maker- way before her time, enjoying hobbies like embroidery, flower arranging, bowling, flea market shopping and volunteering at her daughters' school. Her favorite hobby was sewing, she was an exceptionally talented tailor. Marge was a true lover of animals. While growing up, we had a veritable farm of chickens, a rabbit, a duck, many cats, and dogs. She was kind when it came to animals and took in many homeless and stray animals. Marge enjoyed another hobby; she was an avid genealogist and was able to take several trips to Iowa and Connecticut to follow the Perry story. She made many lifelong friends and connections through her search for family history.

Marge was a proud mother of two daughters: Melissa (Dale) Turner and Carole (Jose) Sinang, a grandmother to Joseph James and Camille Sinang.

The funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on April 23, 2022, at the Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, on the corner of Curtner and Monterey Road. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local ASPCA.
