

Norma Aurora Garcia Contreras, 78, passed away peacefully, October 04, 2020, in Critical Care at the Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, California. Her death was caused by heart failure. The Vigil and Rosary will be held at the Oakhill funeral home and Memorial Park on Sunday October 25th at 1 pm, funeral Mass will be held at the St. Victor’s Church in San Jose, California on Monday, October 26th at 1 pm. She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose, California after the Mass.
Norma was born in Hacienda Peña Blanca Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico November 09, 1941 to Jose Taurino Pacheco García and Maria Guadalupe Venegas García. She had 10 siblings, which consisted of 5 brothers, (Juan Pablo, Andres, Sebastian (Lalo), David, and Jose Armando) and 5 sisters, (Antonieta, Teresa, Lilia, Juanita, and Agustinita). The whole family moved to Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico in 1955. Norma along with her brothers (Juan Pablo, Andres, Sebastian (Lalo), David, and Jose Armando), and sisters, (Teresa and Antonieta), entered the United States in 1956, 1960, and 1963 to work as farm workers to help the rest of the family in Piedras Negras. Norma worked in California, Texas, Michigan, Utah, and Idaho.
Norma immigrated to San Jose, California in 1962. She met, courted, and fell deeply in love with and married Roberto Ochoa Contreras in the same year she arrived, at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Her love and devotion lasted a lifetime and will endure through eternity. She was blessed with 6 Children, (Maria Elena, George, Robert, Diane, Susanna, and Veronica) and 24 Grandchildren (Maree, DJ, Robert, Andrew, Teddy, Jorgie, Julian, Kevin, Patrick, Sarah, Gabrielle, Nicole, Isabella, Jessica, Adriel, Gianna Rose, Christopher, Giancarlo, Vincenzo, Sam, Mateo, Vanessa, Nico, and Sophia) and 6 Great Grandchildren (Naya, Mia, Marisol, Savannah, Khaleigh, and Kaelyn).
During her life, a life filled with love and laughter, Norma was a housewife, mother, cannery worker, florist, owned a liquor store with her husband, Roberto, and had a clothing business. She loved gardening and especially loved taking care of her flowers.
Norma will be remembered for her enormous heart and deep faith as a Catholic Christian. She attended Holy Family, Virgin De Guadalupe, Saint Joseph, Saint John Vianney, and Saint Victor’s Catholic Church. She practiced her faith by praying the Holy Rosary, receiving the Holy Eucharist, and deep devotion to La Virgin Maria De Guadalupe.
She loved her family and always prayed for them. She was very passionate in seeing her children and grandchildren succeed in their education and faith. She was also concerned for her nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters.
We will always remember our Mommy with great love and compassion.
