Norman Brustrom was born in Abbott, Texas, and passed away peacefully at his home in San Jose. After serving in the U.S. Navy and attending San Jose State University (SJSU), he enjoyed a 33-year career as a technician in the SJSU College of Science.
Norman had an endless curiosity and love of all things electronic, nautical, mechanical, and musical. He was passionate about building things--from complex machinery and robotics--to toys and vehicles for his grandchildren. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Brustrom and Dorcas Shales, and brother Dari Shales. He is deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Brustrom; his children Jennifer Brustrom Nicholson (Steve Nicholson) and Jeff Brustrom (Todd Fisher); and grandchildren Kylie and Kate Nicholson.
We will celebrate Norman’s life on November 23, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Willow Glen United Methodist Church, 1420 Newport Ave., San Jose, CA 95125.
