The Nelson family is sad to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch Robert (Bob) Nelson on May 31. He died at home surrounded by his family. Dear husband of Joyce, father to Ron (Lori), Rick (Scott) and Julie (Dave) and wonderful grandfather to Nick (Meghan), Neil and Gordon. He was 89 years old and a multi-generational Valley resident. Bob was proud to be a decorated WWII Army medic, landing at Normandy Beach on D-Day invasion and also served in the Battle of the Bulge. After an honorable discharge in 1945, he was a fireman for the City of San Jose until he retired in 1976. Bob was fascinated by history, art, nature and good food. He was also a creative cook himself. He had a wonderful smile.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 13 at 11 am, St. Claire Chapel, Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
