Roberto "Rob" Filippone, passed too early in life after suffering a cardiac arrest. He battled to recover for nearly 30 days but he was called home on September 26, 2022. He is survived by his wife Erris Cafferkey Filippone, daughters Ashlyn (19) and Emma (17), his mother Carmelina (Gallo) Filippone, sisters Francesca (Kennealy) and Linda (Rotolo) along with his father in law, Liam Cafferkey, brothers in law, sisters in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased in death by his father Frank Filippone and mother in law Theresa Cafferkey.
Born August 3, 1971 and raised in Belmont, CA Rob attended Fox school, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Ralston Junior High and Hillsdale High School. Many of his childhood days were spent helping at the family restaurants (Carlmont deli) on Ralston Avenue and Mama Mia's Pizzeria (San Jose). The youngest of his Sicilian family, Rob treasured the memories of pasta sauce making with his parents, fishing trips with his dad and family get togethers where he developed a strong pride in his heritage and love for family.
On May 11, 2002 he married his wife, Erris Cafferkey and they had two beautiful, loving daughters, Ashlyn and Emma. Together they raised their family in Discovery Bay, CA actively involved in the Timber Point PTA, Odyssey of the Mind and LHS Parents of Playmakers. Rob's favorite pastime was taking road trips with his girls to get out and enjoy nature, day trips to Lake Camanche, a camping trip when the girls were brave enough for tents and of course a fishing day whenever the time allowed. Rob was a jack of all trades, often seen tinkering or preparing some sort of kit in the garage and always available to lend a helping hand to a neighbor. His love for animals had no boundaries and his german shepard Gunner was his best buddy! In town, he was known as Mr. Rob to many of the youth who had attended his wife's preschool, Glory Days Academy. Often outside at drop off, Rob's heart smiled at all the happy "Hi Mr. Rob" that he would get as they passed his way into the classroom.
For over 25 years, Rob was a truck driver. From long haul to transfer trailers he loved being on the road and he had vast skills and knowledge of the industry. A true patriot, Rob loved that his early career brought him through so many of the US states. He was always grateful that he was able to see so much of the country he loved. He had always wanted to take his girls to see them all, but time and happenstance took those opportunities away.
Rob's heart was big and his love was strong. His gentle eyes and his booming laugh will be forever missed by his family and friends. He will be a guardian angel to his daughters in all of their years to come and they will see him in the sunsets at night, hear him in the waves at the beach and feel his hugs as the wind whispers by.
