Sumi was born in 1923 in Alameda before being interned with her family at Heart Mountain, Wyoming during WWII. In her later years, Sumi enjoyed her time golfing, hosting at Kubota's Restaurant, attending her grandkids' games and activities, and watching Korean dramas. Standing at only 4'6", she was a little lady, but she could light up a room with her smile and personality.
Sumi now joins her late husband, Bob. She will be greatly missed by her loving children, Bobbie Shiraki (Steve) and Dean (Lydia); sisters, Mine Tanaka and June Inouye; grandkids, Stephanie Lee (George), Gregory Shiraki (Karen), Kayla, and Malia, and six great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Audrey and Ana for their care and friendship given to Sumi in her final months.
A private family service was held on July 31st.
