I cant believe you are gone. I cant even begin to wrap my mind around it. You and Joseph saved my life. And I’ll never be able to thank you both enough for it. The love and support you gave me is what got me through many painful days. You were always so kind and made me feel like I mattered.  I could spend hours just talking about absolutely nothing with you and my face would be so sore from laughing. Our tea and iced coffee dates were the best. You were the only person back then I really trusted to drive my Altima and I always felt so safe with you. I love you Tien. I’ll always be proud to have been your friend. ❤️❤️ From our Elementary School days and beyond. Your memory will forever be a blessing.

Dear Tim,

There are no words that can alleviate the pain and sorrow that comes with losing someone close. It’s so hard to understand how someone so full of life and with so much to live for could be taken away so suddenly. I’ll always cherish you as a dear friend and brother. When I saw how you were working towards achieving your dreams and when I think about your plans for the future, I felt deep inside that you would be successful. You were so close to finishing the LVN Program and just as I, I know your family would also be very proud of you. And even though you are not physically present, your dreams and the legacy that you left behind will continue to live on. You will be missed by many and please know that you will forever live in our hearts and minds. You will not be forgotten. May you rest in peace!

Tien (I called you Tim), If there was a moment in time I could go back to, it would be those carefree days of us playing ball every week, whether it was pickup games at the cage or 2-on-2 with you on your brother’s team. We’d grab food and drinks during happy hour, while you, still being “the kid”, would stick with coke. At first you were just my best friend’s little brother, but you fit in so naturally that you easily became part of the crew.

A decade later, we were still playing ball while sharing countless laughs, telling rowdy stories, and pouring drinks. I always appreciated your easygoing presence and sincere openness that made every hangout lighthearted and fun. You sang karaoke the same way you played ball and lived life--full of heart, full of effort, and always for the pure fun of it. You became a little brother that I had watched grow and always rooted for. 

Your selfless determination and pure-hearted nature were what I admired most. That genuine, joyful light you carried so effortlessly is what we’ll all miss so deeply. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the time we were lucky enough to share with you. Without you, we would’ve just been a trio playing a boring game of 21. Hopefully, someday, we’ll all ball together again. Rest easy little brother.

Brother man, brother man. We have known each other our entire lives. You are the only person I still know since kindergarten. I still cannot believe that you are gone. We were great friends at one point, and sure we grew up and grew apart, but I apologize for my effort. I could have been more present. 
We went through a lot together. We grew up together. When I look back at the good old days, you will always be a part of those memories.
I always thought we had more time. I apologize for not being there to rekindle the friendship. I apologize if I ever slighted you in any way. Even if we have not spoken, I always wished the best for you.
And I know you always felt that you had something to prove. Whether it was to me or to others. You were always trying to be up to par with me, but truth be told, I was always chasing after you. 
Both our families were traditional, so finishing school was always a priority. You accomplished that and more. I was always proud of you and your determination. I am sorry for not letting you know that while you were still here. 
The last time we spoke, I remember you telling me that you went back to school to pursue a different career. I admired that and that was one of the factors that made me go back. But this time I will finish. In honor of you brother man. Like Kobe said, “Jobs not finished.”
Rest easy Tien. I will always remember you and the good times we had. You always had a good heart and meant well. Thank you for being my friend.
One day I will pass you that ball again for that easy open three.

Thank you for having been an amazing CNA who cared for their patients and always had that yes attitude. You always put a smile on not only the faces of our patients but the staff as well.

Tien was a kind hearted person. He had a good energy, funny, and lived up to his Milhouse nickname by being a good friend.

Forever known as the kid, Tien lived a carefree life. He was always laughing, smiling, and happiest among his friends and family. No jokes was a bad joke, for he would be the first one laughing by your side. Whether it is at home, or on the basketball courts, Tien gave it his all. He never quits, he never complains but always puts the team first. He would always have your back, make the selfless plays, and be the unsung hero. These are the points that matter the most in life. I will always remember the countless stories, memories, and uncontrollable laughter we shared. Rest in peace little brother.  Rain down those 3’s, and one day, I will see you again.

Bestie, I miss you. 😭 it is so hard to believe you’re gone and we don’t get to talk with you every day anymore. I miss your sense of humor, your advice and your companionship. We will always always honor your memory in our house and the kids say they love you “uncteki” ❤️

Whenever we drink soju - we’ll think of you, Tien. No one swirled that bottle and popped it off an elbow quite as good as you did, all while keeping conversation with us!!! We drank our best soju with you and your sidekick :)  You brought both this light hearted joy but fierce tenacity to succeed in life, you never gave up … your presence will be sorely missed in the 8:10 crew. You will live on in our happy memories with you, rest in peace ✌️ Also sending positive thoughts to the loved ones he left behind, let’s remember his distinctive laughter and humor he always brought that made us smile ♥️

Tien, I just wanted to tell you that me and the basketball fellas greatly miss you. It’s surreal that we won’t be able to see you drain those 3’s until we see each other again in heaven. Ông đi rồi giờ tui biết throw random tantrums với ai bây giờ hả ông? Chỉ có ông tolerate my tantrums just as I tolerate your negative land. Tien, you’ve been part of my life for as long as I can remember, woven into every season of my growing up. It’s hard to imagine any version of my story without you in it.

Your gentle spirit and the way you cared for people shaped me in ways you never even realized. Your dedication, hard work, and dream of becoming a nurse made me so proud, more than I ever said out loud. I hope you knew that.

Thank you for being a steady, dependable presence in my life and for being such a loyal friend to my brother. The memories you leave behind are treasures we’ll carry for the rest of our lives. You were so deeply loved.

To Tien: 

We shared a chapter of life filled with discovery, tenderness, and undeniable growth. Though that chapter had ended, the pages remain important, inked by laughter, challenges, and moments nobody else witnessed. You were a force — sometimes stubborn, sometimes spontaneous, always sincere, always present. You loved in your own way, and that love left a mark.
You helped me understand that love can be layered, that endings aren’t failures, and that people can leave and still leave something beautiful behind. You mattered — even beyond “us.” You mattered in how you showed up for your family and your friends. You brought warmth, depth, and meaning.

If I never said thank you clearly enough: thank you. For the courage. For the love. For the lessons wrapped in joy, and the ones wrapped in pain. We are all shaped by the people we once held close, and I am better for knowing you.

Thank you for the 20+ years of friendship. I will always remember the adventures that we've gone through. As much as we like to plan our dinner plans, we always end up doing something random and still have a great night. Those are the memories I'll always cherish. I'll miss getting random messages from you of memes. 

You were a very kind soul. You finally figured out what you wanted to do for a career. I was so looking forward to your white coat ceremony.

Tien, may you rest in peace. I’ve been thinking back to our younger days playing pick-up basketball — we might not have been the best players, but you always showed so much heart and tenacity. Even though we hadn’t connected in years, it hurts to hear of your passing. Sending love and condolences to your family during this difficult time.

Tien was a good friend. I always enjoyed the time we spent together, whether it was playing basketball or staying up late playing NBA 2K. Tien loved spending time with his family and friends and I am glad that we got to make so many memories together, drinking and having fun. I hope you feel love and peace wherever you are and know that your friends are hurting without you.

I knew Tien in middle school. He was someone who was very loyal to his friends and family. He loved love. May he find more love in heaven. My deepest condolences.
