

For those who were blessed enough to know him, Tomas “Tom” Nuñez, Jr. was nothing short of an extraordinary man who, with humbleness and grace led an extraordinary life. His life was a true testament to how his humble beginnings and strong family roots gave him a will and a drive only very few possess. Nothing stopped Tom from following his heart in pursuing and living the American Dream.
His humble beginnings started in the El Paso, Texas region (Canutillo, Texas) where he was born on October 28, 1945. He was raised in a hardworking agricultural family. As a young boy, his parents decided to move to California for a better life. It inspired a dream for him to learn, build, serve, share, and love. He married the love of his life, Mary “Maria” in 1976 who was always by his side in his quest to better their livelihood and the lives of their family. Tom was an intelligent, charming, caring, straight shooter and hardworking man with utmost integrity and could do anything he put his mind to. Never swayed by peer pressure or materialistic desires, Tom valued the simple life. He exemplified how his college education, work, faith, and role as a provider, protector, and leader in his family were his most important values. Tom was an extraordinary husband, father-figure, leader, and hero to his family, and friends. For many, he leaves behind a cherished legacy of guidance, generosity and lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
His successful Historical Restoration & Preservation Company, Nuñez Painting, Inc., located in San Jose, CA made an everlasting impact. His craftsmanship, creativity and an incredible attention to detail, can be seen and felt at historic sites and landmarks throughout the South Bay such as the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph, Hayes Mansion & Hotel, Hotel De Anza, and many more.
Tom exemplified a life that was lived with a great love of family, loyalty, honor and a strong work ethic and will undoubtedly continue to uplift and inspire generations to come.
He is survived by his Loving and Devoted wife Mary “Maria”, siblings Anastacia "Ana" Jarrett, Tiburcia "Tribbie" Irving, Sylvestre "Silver" Nuñez, Jose "Joe" Nuñez, and Luis "Louie" Nuñez, mother-in-law Guadalupe, brothers-in-law, Fidel, David and Paul, sisters-in-law Sandra, Stella and Vivian and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Tomas and Tiburcia Nuñez and siblings, Manuela "Nellie" Valdez, Pablo "Paul" Nuñez, Isaac Nuñez, and Jesusita "Jessie" Israel, and sisters-in-law Christina Frediani and Amanda Paige.
