"Rose Eiden was born on April 19, 1918 to Peter and Marie Cresci. She was one of 12 children. Her father was a fisherman who came over with his wife from Sicily. The family lived in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. Because of the large family and age difference, Rose was considered a second mother to two of her younger sisters, Ann Marie and Marie.
Rose met her future husband, Don Eiden, at the Ali Baba Ballroom in Oakland. They were married on June 14 1952. They lived in Oakland. Rose has two sons, Steve and Jim as well as daughter in laws, Ann and Susan. She has four grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Emily and Michael.
Rose died on December 10 after suffering the complications of a major stroke. She has joined her husband Don who passed away on June 10, 2003.
Rose was a kind, loving and caring person. She was very proud of her family. She was a great cook, loved to celebrate the holidays and made sure everyone was well taken care of. She was, in turn, loved and cared for by her family. She attended grandkids high school and college graduations, sons anniversaries and birthday parties. She lived at home until the end, still very independent in spite of being 92 years old.
We will always remember the Sicilian words and sayings she taught us, her sense of humor, feisty attitude, optimistic outlook on life and her love for us. She will live in our hearts forever."
