Alberta was born in Nebraska on November 4, 1935. Her family moved to California when she was a child. She attended Mt. Tamalpais High School until Sir Francis Drake High School opened closer to her home in Fairfax. It was during this time she met the love of her life, Elmer Tynes. In her senior year, Alberta and Elmer eloped. After three flat tires and an empty gas tank, they were married on February 15th in Reno, Nevada. Her school tried to expel her for getting married, but after her mother, Nona Killgore, threatened to slap the principal and everyone on the school board, she was allowed to graduate with her class.
Alberta and Elmer went on many adventures and were rarely separated. They adopted two daughters and brought them on adventures. Alberta loved her family fiercely and protected them fearlessly. She raised her daughters to be strong women, even when it didn't work out well for her. She gave everything she had to make sure they were well, safe, and unafraid.
She made so many friends in her life through work at Mini Store, her bowling league in San Rafael, and her travels with her love, Elmer.
After being widowed, Alberta eventually retired and ended up living with her best friend and baby sister, Glenna Smith, in Seaside, Oregon.
In her final years, Alberta suffered from a myriad of health issues and at the end, she went peacefully, grateful to return to the loving arms of her husband.
Alberta is survived by her daughters, Julia St. Martin and Pamela Robertson, as well as her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Tristan and Katie Robertson, and Nicole St. Martin and Joshua St. Martin.
Visitation will be held at Keaton's Mortuary in San Rafael between 10 am and 12 pm on Monday, February 26th. This will be followed by a simple graveside service at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
