

Douglas Connor 1927-2011 Doug Connor passed away on August 22, 2011 after a short illness. He was a resident of Greenbrae for 56 years. Born in San Francisco on December 28, 1927 to Vincent and Agnes Connor, he grew up in Brooklyn and Manhasset, New York. He graduated from Mount Saint Charles Prep School in Woonsocket Rhode Island in 1946 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in 1950. Doug changed careers from the sea to graphic arts when he returned to San Francisco in 1951 to help start a new business, Nassau Engraving Company. Over the years and through many mergers, the company became Walker Graphics from which he retired in 1996. Doug Married Marcella "Polly" Frantzen in 1951 and lived in San Francisco before moving to Greenbrae in 1955. After raising their family in Greenbrae and following Doug's retirement, they moved into The Tamalpais in 2006. Doug played tennis, swam at the YMCA regularly and sailed on the Bay. He was involved in Kentfield Little League, Babe Ruth, and Redwood High School Benchwarmers. He was a craftsman in making and refinishing furniture, which he continued at the "Hobby Shop" when moving into at The Tamalpais. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Polly and five children: Cathy (Rod) of Juneau, Alaska, Mike (Beth) of Los Altos, Al of Walnut Grove, Jim (Kym) of Westlake Village, and Scott of San Rafael. Doug and Polly have eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Doug also has a brother Gene (Judy) of Hyannis, MA and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service and interment were private.
