
Juliet Newell San Francisco native Juliet IV Knowles Newell passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2011. Born on February 4, 1925, she received both a B.S. from Vassar College and an M.S. from U.C. Berkeley. She married Richard Newell of San Francisco, and they moved to Kentfield, CA. She and her late husband were world travelers, and she enjoyed the symphony and opera, was an avid tennis player, and loved spending time with her family. Juliet is predeceased by her daughter, Juliet V Havel, and her sister, Sylvia McWilliams. She is survived by two brothers, Peter Knowles and Tod Knowles; her son, Peter Newell; her daughter, Evelyn Heitman; and five grandchildren: Evan and Julian Heitman, Noel Sousa-Powers, Karina Powers, and Jocelyn Havel. On Saturday, October 29th, a memorial service will be held at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross, CA from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the San Francisco Symphony, Davies Symphony Hall, San Francisco, CA 94102.
