Sandwich - Annie Josephine Eardley, 92, born and raised in Sandwich, left this life on March 9, 2019 with her children by her side. Josephine was born March 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur and Leone (Thomas) Hamblin. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Edward Eardley, eleven brothers and sisters and two nephews. She is survived by her son Vail Pagliarani of Sagamore and daughter Rena (Ronnie) Provost of Richlands, NC; grandchildren Neal Provost of New Bern, NC and Kristin (Michael) Roed of Richlands, NC; great grandchildren (her pride and joy) Jordan and Brooke Roed of Richlands, NC; a younger sister Jean Horton of Fall River and many nieces and nephews. She was the ninth of thirteen children. Although her sister Olive Hoxie was two years older, they were like twins (two peas in a pod) their whole lives. Her oldest niece Sally (Bill) Leger always doted on both her closest aunts, traveling from Connecticut anytime she was needed. Josephine graduated from Henry T. Wing School in Sandwich in June 1945 and married Joseph Pagliarani later that month, forfeiting a scholarship. She worked at the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds from 1969 - 1997 where she was a supervisor, retiring after 28 years. She mentored and took younger coworkers under her wing. She had a gifting for organization; her good friend Helen Gould quipped: “Josephine got us organized, labeling and laminating all of us.” She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Josephine always had a “giving heart” toward everyone she touched. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, with the funeral service immediately following at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich. Burial will follow at the Sandwich Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice Services of Massachusetts, 2527 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, MA 02571 or your favorite charity.
