Edward Russell George Smith

Ed grew up in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the Navy, where he became an Engineman First Class. He was a Vietnam Veteran. When he came home from two tours of duty, he was severely affected. In later years, he was diagnosed with PTSD which he struggled with his entire adult life.

Ed loved cars, gardening, cats and his chocolates.

Edward Smith is survived by his sister, Ann DesRoches of Sandwich, and her husband, Stephen. He is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth P. Smith and Carl V. Smith, as well as his brother Robert Smith. He is also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews as well - Catherine Ellis of Taunton, MA and her husband Chip, Carl Smith of Middleboro MA, Nicole Fishkind of Quincy, MA, James Fishkind of Haverhill, MA, Alexander Fishkind of Medford, MA, Christopher DesRoches and his wife April of Acushnet, MA, and Sarah DesRoches of Cranston, RI as well as extended family.

Internment will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Thursday, February 4th at 12:30pm. Memorial donations can be made to PetVets.com.
