James M. Connolly, 76, died January 24th in San Diego. Born in Boston, MA son of the late William E. and Mary E. Connolly. He was predeceased by his brothers William F. and John J. Connolly and sisters Eleanor Desmond and Dorothy Price. Mr. Connolly is survived by his brother, L. Robert Connolly of Sandwich.
James graduated Mission High School in Boston and served in the U.S. Marines from 1953-1956 attaining the rank of
Corporal.
James worked at the Boston Navy Yard and was co-owner with his brother Bill of The Connolly Gym in South Boston. He also served as a Suffolk County Correctional Officer and did some private security work.
Visiting hours will be at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A in Sandwich on Thursday, January 31 from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, Sandwich on Friday. February 1 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 PM. Please omit flowers and make donations in his name to Hospice.
