Affectionately known as Mimi, Jean was a longtime resident of the Village of Cedarville in the town of Plymouth, MA, Jean was born in Dorchester, MA to George and Betty Richards of Roxbury, MA. As a child and an early teen, she often visited family in Plymouth, MA. She so fell in love with the town back in 1963, at the age of 15 she moved to Cedarville to live with family. George and Betty later moved to the small community where they all established roots and ran small businesses. It was here that Jean met and eventually married the late Paul Maier and together they owned and operated the Canal BP Service Station and later Canal Auto in Sagamore MA. Through hard work and honesty, they built a respectable business that lasted 38 years, until Jean retired. When she retired, Jean dedicated her time to providing the experiences of what the world had to offer to her two grandsons, Corey Maier and Kobi Polisky, often taking them on trips and Cruises. She had no greater love than having them in her life and was just as happy to sit with or watching them play sports. Later in years and as the boys got older Jean found love in four legs through her beloved Pomski named Carter.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Wayne Richards. She is survived by her two daughters Robin Polisky, her husband John and son Kobi of Plymouth, MA; Lisa Maier Cacciolfi, husband Mark Cacciolfi and son Zachary Cacciolfi of Wareham, MA; Grandson Corey Maier and his wife Veronica of Middleborough, MA, and her “adopted” grandson Tim Rinaldi of Plymouth, MA. Jean was close to her nephew Chris Richards, wife Kristen and sons Jake, Patrick and Drew; she also leaves behind her nieces Ellen Hinckley, wife of Tom and Katie Naylor, wife of Greg. Jean also remained in close contact with her nephew and niece from her husband’s side, George Maier husband of Paula and children, Kathy Hughes wife of Matt and children and Jack Maier. Jean also had other cousins, and many close friends she loved to chat on the phone with and would always show up at her Christmas Eve parties at her home.
