Jay was born on July 3, 1956 and was the son to the late John “Jack” and Valerie Bracken of Braintree, MA. He graduated from Braintree High in 1974 and received a Bachelor of Business Management from Bryant College in 1979. Jay played baseball and hockey in high school and continued his hockey career at Bryant College.
Jay worked at Poland Springs from 1984-2019 as a Retail Sales Manager, where he received numerous awards including the prestigious “North American President’s Award.” After retiring from Poland Springs, he started working at Community Connections, a place for Individuals with disabilities, where Jay was able to truly shine his light of giving back to others. He had the unique ability to touch the lives of all that he encountered.
Jay had such an enjoyment for spending time with his family, especially watching his sons play sports. When he was not spending time at the ice rink, Jay had a passion for music and a natural born talent for playing the guitar and singing songs at various establishments and at almost every family celebration. Jay was an avid weightlifter and workout enthusiast all his life, and took great pride in living a healthy lifestyle.
Jay had a zest for life. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. He was a loyal and true friend, with a sincere generosity for others. He always had words of encouragement for everyone and anyone. His laugh was infectious, and he could light up a room with his jokes and stories.
Two years ago, Jay followed his dream and moved to the Cape to retire. He found the perfect house with a big yard where he could tend to his flowers and plants. He found peace being outdoors, sitting in his yard and watching the birds.
The family asks that you honor Jay’s life by living your life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Connections 168 Industrial Drive Unit 3, Mashpee, MA 02649.
