
Mary Therese Weldon, 89, passed away Thursday October 23, 2014 of health issues brought on by old age. A long time resident of The Larchmont and Mamaroneck area she was the third of four children born to to Michael L. and Margret R. (O’Loughlin) Walsh on October 21, 1925 in Mamaroneck, NY.
Graduating from Mamaroneck High School in 1943 she enjoyed glee club activities. She attended the College of New Rochelle graduating with a degree in Sociology in 1947. She worked for the Catholic Home Bureau in White Plains. On September 11, 1948 she married James J. Weldon of Portchester at the Most Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck. In1965 she started a teaching career teaching primarily second grade. She was also a remedial teacher specializing in reading. Therese received her Master of Education in 1975 from Fordham University.
After retiring from teaching at Saint John and Paul she continued being an educator in the Bronx, New York public school system. She enjoyed swimming at the Larchmont Shore Club and was active playing Bridge with friends. She enjoyed trips to Cape Cod where she and her husband had a summer home. She also enjoyed all of her grandchildren, traveling to Oregon, upstate New York and Cape Cod to visit them.
She is pre-deceased by her husband James J. Weldon. She is survived by her sons Jim, John, Robert and Michael, daughter Anne Sullivan and her sister Dorothy Fitzgerald. She also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please contribute to a charity of ones choice.
