Melissa E. Goulding passed away peacefully at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born the youngest of six children to Raymond and Elizabeth Goulding (Leader) in Manhasset, New York. She grew up in a lively, close-knit family, where laughter was always part of the soundtrack.
Her greatest joy and proudest role in life was being a mother to her daughter, Rebecca. The two of them were a team from the very beginning, building a life full of laughter, love, and a bond that could never be broken.
Melissa was an incredibly hard worker who took pride in everything she did and had a way of making even the toughest days lighter.
Cape Cod was always her constant. She spent childhood summers there and eventually returned full-time to care for her mother.
When her own health changed, she moved in with Rebecca, her son-in-law Seth, and her granddaughters Ruby and Milly. Her granddaughters were her favorite part of every day, and she loved them fiercely.
Melissa loved hard and felt everything deeply. She was funny, sharp, silly, and full of heart.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Seth Meyer, granddaughters Ruby and Milly, brother Bryant and wife Regina, brother Tom and wife Beth, nieces Kelly Gunther and Erin Burgher, nephews Bryant, Kevin, Rory, and Ryan Goulding, and many beloved grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Barbara, her brothers Raymond and Mark, and her beloved dog (and favorite child), Riley.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and the warmth she gave so freely.
And if you knew her, you probably just heard her call you by your nickname or say one of her classic lines.
She had a funny thing for everyone, and once she said it, it stuck with you forever.
