Raymond Francis Farrell, 76, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 after a long illness. He was the son of the late Raymond Farrell, Sr. and Eleanor (Bryant) Farrell and was predeceased by his three brothers Robert, Richard and John.
Born in Boston, he and his family lived in North Carolina, Bermuda and Kansas City, Missouri, as his father, a WW II and Korean War veteran, pursued his military career with the Marines. The family returned to Massachusetts in the early 1960’s and lived in Hull where Ray graduated from high school.
Always hardworking, Ray worked many jobs, including bartending, where his warmth and love of conversation were real assets. He eventually decided on a career as a real estate appraiser and worked primarily in the Hingham, Cohasset and Scituate markets.
Ray moved to Sandwich in 2003, after meeting his wife, Martha Mulcahy, and they lived on Main St. Naturally outgoing he made friends easily while walking his beloved dogs throughout the village. For a time, Ray was an avid runner and he enjoyed watching sports, particularly football, baseball and horse racing. He followed politics closely and enjoyed sharing his thoughts.
In addition to his wife, Martha, he leaves his son, Jason Farrell of West Hartford, CT, and two stepsons Ben and Joshua Clarkin, their wives Rachel and Kristen, and eight grandchildren Jason and Jordan Farrell and Zoe, Jake, Lily, Sam, Sadie and Violet Clarkin, each of whom he was immensely proud.
The family would like to thank VNA hospice for their many kindnesses, especially his nurse Linda and health aides Jessica, and Bob O’Toole, who became his dear friend.
A memorial gathering is planned for family and friends later this summer at his home.
