Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Andries was a citizen of the world. He spent his formative years in South Africa, arriving with his family in the United States in 1997 before graduating valedictorian from Hendersonville High School in 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2009 which included a year in Paris at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University in 2013, contributing to several publications. He worked as a software engineer at Merchant E and CareerBuilder in Atlanta since 2015. He loved languages, music, and gaming with his brothers. In high school he was an outstanding tennis player, soccer player, and played French horn in the school orchestra, much loved by classmates for his humor and can-do attitude. He would surprise you with a clever joke or play on words to make you laugh. He was admired and deeply loved and is sorely missed.
