Ann Arkwright Sampson, daughter of Ann Stringfellow Arkwright and Preston Stanley Arkwright, Jr., third president of the Georgia Power Company died March 5, 2018 of natural causes after a stroke at age 88. Mrs. Sampson was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Atlanta and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 30 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack T. Sampson and is survived by her three adult children, David A. Sampson of Atlanta, Martha Stanley S. Henderson and her husband, Jim of New Orleans, Tricia S. Platas and her husband Tony of Springfield, VA; four grandchildren; and one great grandson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 beginning at 1 o’clock and have a funeral service at 2 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Go Fund Me Page for Tony Platas who is recovering from a stroke.
