
Barbara Broadwell Fortinberry Schultz died January 16, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Schultz was a native of Atlanta and was the first Leap Year baby born in 1936 in Atlanta. She was a long-time active member at Briarlake Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching children’s Sunday school and volunteering with the Youth Choir. Mrs. Schultz also was a member of several bridge clubs and loved entertaining family and friends in her home. Most of all Barbara enjoyed being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Albert Fortinberry; second husband of 29 years, Dr. Donald Schultz; and step-daughter, Patti Dickerson. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Plemmons (Skip); step-daughter, Susan Ramberger (Mark); step-son, Robert Schultz (Brenda); step-son-in-law, Stan Dickerson; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
