Dr. Clifford “Mack” Kerley, age 87, died peacefully at his home in Atlanta, Georgia on January 25, 2026. His death leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of his family and friends, but his legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to those he loved will live on through the many lives he touched.
Born in 1938, Mack grew up in the small town of Humboldt, Tennessee. He had a rich and engaging career as a radiologist at DeKalb General Hospital in Atlanta for many decades. After the death of his beloved wife Yvonne Vinsant Kerley in 1980, he stepped up to finish raising his two daughters himself, with support and assistance from so many of his devoted family and friends. He took on the daunting role with grace and determination; and we are forever grateful for it.
He is survived by his daughters Karen Kerley-Schwartz and Audrey Smith and their husbands Ken Schwartz and Todd Smith. He is also survived by his wife Linda Klaitz and his sisters Edna “Sally” Griggs and Harrison Cotham. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren Alexis Yvonne Smith, Lindsay Kerley Schwartz, Whitney Youngson Smith, Abigail Kendall Schwartz and Jacob Sidney Schwartz.
In addition to his loving family and close friends, Mack loved golfing, fishing, beer, a good laugh, and good food. He took good care of all around him and wanted the best for everyone. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Mack’s Life will take place on Saturday, March 7 from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm at Haven Restaurant, 1441 Dresden Dr., NE, #160, Atlanta, GA 30319. We will raise a toast and share a bite, some tears, a laugh and some fond memories. All friends of Mack are welcome.
