Daniel lived a life of great passion. He was a lover of family, friends, gardening, the pool, the North Carolina Tarheels, and his adopted hometown of Atlanta. A great storyteller and host, Daniel captivated his many friends and family members with hilarious observations of his daily life and with stories from his childhood in Lee County, North Carolina. A 2007 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Daniel was never known to miss a UNC basketball game.
From a young age, it was clear Daniel had a keen interest in finance and, following college, he pursued his professional passions with as much dedication as his personal ones. Daniel worked at Alvarez & Marsal, Morgan Joseph and most recently at nThrive, where he served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Technology Operations.
A loving and energetic man, Daniel had a large and diverse group of friends of all ages and from all walks of life. An avid gardener, Daniel was often seen spreading mulch, planting bushes and taking care of countless succulents around the house. Armed with a good book, a float and music, Daniel was often hosting friends from the comforts of his own pool, a major selling point when he and Shelly purchased their dream home in late 2017. Daniel was also known to explore Atlanta, spending countless hours with friends walking the Beltline, at Ponce City Market and at his favorite restaurant, El Potro.
He was deeply sentimental and devoted to his family and friends, especially his wife, Shelly. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelly Anne Silverman; parents, Ellen Marie Silverman and Jon Silverman; brother, Michael Silverman; Grandmother, Joyce Silverman and in-laws, Sheila and Charles Lloyd; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Evelyn and Elmore Glaser.
His family, friends, and all of the lives he touched will remember his smile, kind words, funny stories, and unbounded enthusiasm for life. A man of firmly held beliefs, Daniel cherished individual rights and freedom of expression. He was a monthly supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, the 28th of July at eleven o'clock in the morning at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from ten o'clock until the hour of service at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs.
