Donald was a native of Short Hills, New Jersey. An Eagle Scout and career salesman in technology, he had a brilliant mind that could tell you how a thing worked and why, whether in business or nature. A degree from University of Vermont, a Master’s from Northeastern, a PhD student with classes at Harvard Business School, Donald remained a lifelong learner.
Donald met his wife Fran in 1982, both highly successful in tech. They were a dynamic team that brought out each other’s strengths. Together, they built houses that became homes and raised their daughter, Madeleine.
After losing Fran to pancreatic cancer after 35 years of marriage, Donald and Madeleine moved to Atlanta where they worked together developing an app.
Donald loved telling stories of his life well lived; sailing boats, racing F1 cars, and traveling the world. The stories told the most frequently and with the most joy were the stories about his family.
Donald will be missed by his family: his daughter, Madeleine; his siblings, Meg, Chris and Laurence; and his extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations to pancreatic cancer can be made at FranAndDonald.com in memory of Donald and Frances MacDonald.
