

Dr. Edwin Marston Rascoe, age 90, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025. Ed was born in Reidsville, North Carolina, on March 3, 1935. He attended Reidsville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated in just three years and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating medical school, Ed completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and his residency in psychiatry serving as chief resident his final year. He then served in the Navy at Parris Island, South Carolina, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. When his military service was complete, Ed moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia, and established a thriving private practice in psychiatry which flourished for 55 years. Ed was an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Emory University, and a member of the Atlanta Medical Association, Georgia Psychiatric Association, and American Psychiatric Association.
In his personal time, Ed was an avid collector of seashells and photography. He enjoyed walking at Chastain Park, reading nonfiction, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Anita Rascoe, his children, Julie Rascoe and Christopher Rascoe (Leslie), his grandchildren, Brooke Rascoe and Caroline Rascoe, all of Atlanta, Georgia, and many other relatives in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Harriet Rascoe, his brother Dr. Robert Rascoe, Jr., and his beloved grandson, Christopher A. Rascoe, Jr.
