Gary D. Wolfe, Sr., 83, of Dunwoody, GA, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021. He was preceded in death by his vivacious wife and favorite swing dance partner, Emma Lee Wolfe. Gary was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and served in the Army. In addition to his distinguished thirty-seven year career at IBM, Gary will be remembered for his love of travel and the outdoors. His home away from home was his rustic Alaskan cabin where he would hunt, fish and hone his skills as a marksman and master craftsman. His voracious appetite for books and hobbies made him a wonderful conversationalist. His rugged exterior forged from his humble beginnings belied his tender feelings for animals, especially his beloved cats and dogs. Gary is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Arie Van Der Heijden of Sarasota, FL, and their children, Jacco Van der Heijden and Caroline Van der Heijden Zuidland of Ourdenhoorn Netherlands, son Greg D. Wolfe of Atlanta, son Gary D. Wolfe, Jr. (Cindy) and their sons, Gary D. “Trey” Wolfe, III and Matthew Harrell, and his brothers and sisters, Duane “Tweet” Wolfe, Megon Birdsall, Janice Atsaves, Jimmy Wolfe, Charles Wolfe and Kevin Wolfe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Atlanta Humane Society (atlantahumane.org). Private services were held at Arlington Memorial Park.
