Gyndelle Mogene Banford Teate passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on March 5, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia after a long battle with dementia. Mrs. Teate, known by “Mogene,” was born in Griffin, Georgia on February 14, 1939. Mogene was the daughter of the late Ed and Charlotte Vinson Banford. She graduated from Griffin High School in 1957. After having been a homemaker and loving mother to her two daughters for a number of years, she attended Bryman Nursing School in Atlanta, Georgia and worked in the medical field. She then changed careers and worked at The J. C. Penney Company in various roles, both retail and administrative, until she retired in the 1990s. Upon retirement, she was able to focus on her very favorite activity of being a full time “Nana” to her grandchildren and then to her great-grandchildren some years later. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing the piano, and reading her Bible. Mrs. Teate was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Eugene Teate. She is survived by her daughters, Janice(Mike) Gunnells and Michelle(David) Leiter; grandchildren, Amanda(Keith) Bleckley, Grace(Matt) Underwood, and Caroline, Emily & Sam Leiter; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel & Charlotte Bleckley and Ansleigh & Bayleigh Underwood.

Her family will gather for a celebration of her life and interment of ashes on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn, Georgia.
