Harold was born October 10, 1938, the son of the late James and Madeline Hodnett, in Birmingham, AL.
Right out of high school, Harold served in the Army National Guard and was soon employed by and later promoted to management with Southern Bell and BellSouth, working over 35 years in telecommunications in Birmingham, South FL and Atlanta, GA.
Besides his family and service to God, his passion was repairing and restoring vintage automobiles, or anything else he could repair for himself or others.
In 10th grade, Harold was captivated by a new freshman named Billie. Later they became high school sweethearts, married at ages 19 and 17, and lived their lives together for over 67 years of marriage.
Harold served God as an elder for over 40 years with the church of Christ, doing so at congregations wherever they currently lived. On at least two occasions, he worked with other individuals to start a new congregation in their local area.
Living in Clarkesville, GA, Harold worked as a bailiff with the Habersham County Court System for several years.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by siblings Alice Fowler, Lila Mattox, Burleigh Hodnett, Clarence Hodnett and great grandson Shane Michael Heintzman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Billie Martin Hodnett, son, David Hodnett (Carmen), daughter, Karen Cherry (John), five grandchildren; Alan Cherry (Hannah), Lauren Harber(Stephen), Landon Hodnett (Emily), Lane Hodnett (Jordan), Lanae Heintzman (Darren), and seven great grandchildren; Eleanor and Henry Harber, Marley and Trace Hodnett, Nora and Emma Hodnett and Theo Heintzman.
