

James Philip Edee died October 30, 2010 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 81. A native of Pawnee City, NE, he attended the University of Nebraska where he met and married his wife, Sheila. He belonged to Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduating from the University College of Law, Jim received his Air Force ROTC commission. Subsequently, Jim served several years in the JAG division at Hunter AFB in Savannah. After his tour of duty, he and his young family settled in Atlanta. Jim began his legal career in the Trust Department of the First National Bank. For 13 years, he was an attorney for the Estate and Gift Tax Division of the IRS. He eventually entered private practice until his retirement in 1996. During that period, Jim earned a MBA at Georgia State University, and a Masters’ degree in Tax Law from Emory. Jim enjoyed ferrying his retro Chris Craft cruiser to Lake Lanier, where he enthusiastically taught family and friends to water ski. A tireless tennis player, he always enjoyed brisk challenges on the courts of Cherokee Town Club. Jim savored his long-time friends in the Lawyers’ Club of Atlanta and the Atlanta Estate Planning Council. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Alix and Richard Nardone, Bluffton, SC; Eric and Jill Edee, Smyrna; and Brooke and Jeffrey Stark, Marietta, seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. He is survived also by his brother, Allen B. Edee, III, Sugar Land, TX and sister, Frances Edee Gates, Aurora, CO. The family expresses gratitude and thanks to the loving and loyal ladies at Specialized Adult Care. A memorial service will be Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 11 o’clock at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta where Jim served as an elder and captain of the ushers’ committee. Arrangements by H.M.
