Dear Mrs. Hemby and family,

I only knew John for a relatively short time as a fellow member of the Kiwanis Club, but I always enjoyed his company.  He was treasured by our community, and his warmth and music will be sorely missed in our meetings.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Mrs. Hemby and family; I am deeply saddened by John's passing and I extend to you my deepest sympathies and prayers for you during this time of loss.  John was a very, very special person.  My dealings with John began in the seventies when John was Macon Division Vice President and I was in Budgeting for Georgia Power.  John was always supportive of the efforts to "cut costs" while protecting the interests of his division as he was in later years when he was Executive Vice President at SCS and I was in budgeting there as well.  While John might not always agree with you, he never argued with you.  It was always a how can we make this work for both of us.  That was one of the things that made John so special.  He dealt with everyone as an equal and made you feel a personal relationship with him.  John always seemed so happy and caring for others.  He was always helping others.  He was always bringing good cheer to others.  I can still remember so well the many times he would sit down and play the piano at company functions.  John was always positive and made those around him feel that way as well.  John was a role model for so many and I was one of those.  If we could all live up to John's standards, we would all be ok.  Again, my sincerest sympathies to you in your time of loss.  Thanks for sharing John with us; I know we will remember him always.

Dear June & Family, I knew John when he was a board member of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation when I was Development Director, and later when we both were members of the downtown Atlanta Kiwanis Club. What a delightful man he was! He was a dear friend when I worked at the Georgia Trust...salt of the earth...who loved to entertain with the piano & sing-a-longs on "Rambles" (our statewide excursions to small towns throughout the state). I will forever remember him as an honest, genuine and lovable man who loved you, June, as well as everyone he came in contact with. I would have come to the ceremony, had I known. Love to all. June & Family, I am so very sorry.  It is so hard to lose someone we love deeply even when we know that he is in God's arms.  I ate lunch with John at Kiwanis right before Thanksgiving. I want you to know that we talked about you and the family and he spoke of you with such deep love.  I will miss him and we will miss him at Kiwansis. Singing will not be the same without him. Dear June,
So sorry to hear of John's sudden passing.  I will never forget his beautiful piano playing and his wonderful volunteer spirit.  I feel truly blessed to have known such a wonderful Christian man.

John Hemby was a longtime great associate of mine at Georgia Power.  I worked directly with him for many years.  He was always a first class individual and executive with integrity, great personality, an ever present smile, a man dedicated to our customers, a ready and willing helpful hand to anyone, always full of life and fun, a great piano player, and in short my friend John was a real honest people person and with whom I always held John in the highest respect, appreciation, gratitude, and admiration.  Glenda and I are thinking of June and the entire family at this difficult time.  June was always active with John and totally supportive of all our efforts and objectives at Georgia Power.......All our best to June and the family.
