Mr. John James Valletta, age 83, of Atlanta passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, the 22nd of January 2014. He was born in Ossining, NY to Biagio Valletta and Maria Santucci Valletta. He served as a Lieutenant in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for bravery. John graduated with an MBA from the Clarkson Institute of Technology in Potsdam, NY. He was an executive officer for Walter E. Hellar & Co. in Miami and was later entrusted to open their office here in Atlanta. John retired and pursued his passion as owner and operator of the Camelot Golf Course in Rogersville, TN. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends. Surviving are his loving friend, Alice Norton; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary V. Valletta, Glenn A. Valletta and Beth Valletta; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen Valletta and Tommy Washer; grandchildren, Christie and John Washer, Traci White and her husband, Marc White, Justin Valletta; and brother, Ben Valletta. Services honoring John’s life will be held Sunday, the 26th of January at two o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel with Reverend Bill Frisby officiating.
