Joseph Bluford Dillard passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2019 with his family by his side. Joseph was born on January 18, 1928. He graduated from Boys High, attended Emory University and graduated from the University of Georgia/Atlanta Campus. A native of Atlanta, Joseph lived in Sandy Springs for 53years; and in West End and Cascade Heights as a child and young adult. He was active in scouting during those years and attained Eagle Scout rank. Joseph was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy. He was employed by Southern Bell and Bell South for 36 years and retired from Bell South which is now AT&T. He was an active member of North Springs UMC and served in many leadership roles during his 52 year membership. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph A. Dillard and Frances Hargrove Dillard; sister, Betty Dillard Garmon. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marianne McWilliams Dillard; daughters and sons-in-law Terry and Beth Dillard Blalock; Tim and Joanne Dillard Morrow. Two granddaughters, Julie Anne Morrow, and Jennifer Lauren Morrow also survived. Several cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 18th, from 12:30 until 1:30PM at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs with a graveside service to follow at two o’clock at Arlington Memorial Park.
