Julia Casey Gray

Julia Casey Gray, 26 of Sandy Springs, died peacefully on January 19, 2023. Julia attended Heards Ferry Elementary School, Woodland Elementary School, Holcomb Bridge Middle School, Centennial High School and Riverwood High School.
Julia was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type A at age 4. She was the first Sanfilippo child in the world to receive an experimental unrelated cord blood transplant at Duke Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in 2001.
Julia made an impact on so many lives. To be the recipient of one of her smiles, was a joyful experience. Her parents want to acknowledge the teachers, caregivers and medical professionals who played a significant role in her short but beautiful life.
She is survived by her loving parents, Dorsey and Bernadette Gray and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her loving grandparents, and 2 uncles. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Duke Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (PTCT) Family Support Program, https://www.gifts.duke.edu/dukehealth?designation=3912648. The family will receive friends at 1 o’clock with a memorial service at 2 o’clock on Friday, February 3, 2023 at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
