Marjorie Elaine Ranstrom was born on October 14, 1932 in Warren, Minnesota, the fourth child of Herman and Emma (Heddan) Ranstrom. Following her graduation from Warren High School in 1950, she and a few of her friends moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she received training certification as an executive secretary. Following her certification she was hired at Investment Diversified Services (IDS) in Minneapolis.
Marge met, dated, and then in 1954 married Richard (Dick) Reese in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They had two sons, Jeff and Brad, in Minneapolis before settling in Atlanta, Georgia in 1960, where son Todd and daughter Robyn were born. Marge was an excellent bridge player and would often host bridge games at her house. Dick was an avid golfer who obtained a family membership at Dunwoody Country Club in 1968 as the 120th member. Marge and Dick enjoyed hosting parties often with work friends and neighbors. With their children they spent a lot of time transporting and attending sporting events.
In 1974 Dick passed away after a brief cancer illness and Marge would finish raising her children who were 18, 17, 13 and 11 at the time. She was the best stay-at-home mother who was there for her children every step of the way. Marge enjoyed taking the younger children back to Minnesota and Iowa to visit relatives periodically. A strong family bond with relatives was very important to her.
As her children would marry along came seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the ultimate Grandmommy who was very involved with all of the grandchildren’s lives and loved them very much.
Marge is survived by her children Jeff (Rossana), Brad (Lisa), Todd (Mary) and Robyn Reese; grandchildren Tiffany, Kristen, Pamela, Erica, Bridget, Alyssa and Ryan; great grandchildren Reese, Avery, Hayes, Charlotte, Cooper, Ryder, Savannah, Dylan and Lucy. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard (Dick) Allen Reese, her brothers Maynard and Denny, and her sister Ivy.
There was a private family graveside funeral service held at Arlington Memorial Gardens on Wednesday May 7, 2025. Arrangements conducted by H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
