Mitchell Lee McGill, long-time resident of Dunwoody, Georgia, peacefully passed away March 20, 2024. Mitch was born in Blue Ridge, Georgia on May 17, 1952, to the late Woodrow and Virgie McGill. He attended West Fannin County High School and North Georgia College, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mitch enjoyed a long career in information technology, working for Management Science America, Dun + Bradstreet Software, Peoplesoft, and Ceridian. A true outdoorsman, he loved fly fishing – everywhere from the mountain streams of North Georgia to the Alagnak and Snake Rivers. He looked forward to deer and turkey season each year with his fellow hunters at the Big Buck Station hunting club near Juliette, Georgia. He loved cooking, helping Cyndi in the garden, and his beloved cat Buddy. Mitch will always be cherished for his quick wit and extraordinarily dry sense of humor.
Mitch and his wife, Cyndi Herbert McGill, recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Newman and Marie Herndon, brother-in-law Bob Newman; niece Kimberley Widener, her husband Craig, and their children Khloe, Carter, and Christian and his wife Myranda; niece Meredith Williams, her husband Chuck, and their children Blake, Brady, and Bailey; and nephews Tyler and Kevin Wilburn.
A celebration of life will be held soon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Dunwoody Community Garden (DCGO.org).
