

Richard William Grabiak, 80, of Dunwoody passed away on May 23, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mr. Grabiak was born in Hermanie, PA on Oct.18, 1933. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. George W. Grabiak and Gertrude Perdoch Grabiak as well as sister, Dolores Grabiak Fredericks. He was a graduate of Reading Catholic High School and Pennsylvania Military College now known as Widener University. As a senior, Mr. Grabiak was honored by the National Order of World Wars with a gold medal and a parade at Valley Forge as the outstanding military graduate of all colleges in the Pennsylvania area. He met and married Diane Gray Grabiak in Columbus, GA while stationed at Ft. Benning. He served as a lieutenant in Germany and Lebanon and later spent several years in electrical contracting before settling into a 43 year career with Aflac in various sales management positions. Rich was a devoted husband, father, a man of honor and integrity whom will forever be our hero. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Diane Gray Grabiak; son, Geoffrey Vaughn Grabiak and wife Jennifer, daughters, Cynthia Grabiak Bobbitt and husband Clifton, Dorothy Allison Grabiak, Diane Grabiak Alexander; grandchildren, Matthew William Grabiak, Jessica Ann Grabiak, Nichole Gray Bobbitt, William Lane Bobbitt, Richard Bayne Alexander, Taylor Gray Alexander; and many loving relatives and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Graveside services will be held Friday May 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA.
