Virginia Hemphill Selph, 87, of Atlanta, died July 25, 2011. Mrs. Selph worked for the VA Hospital in Atlanta for many years. After she married “Red” Selph they lived in Jackson, MS. When they returned to Atlanta, Virginia worked as a receptionist at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church where she was a member of the F. Martha Davis Bible Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Red” Selph and is survived by her children, Elaine Harris (John), Bill Selph, Diane Bullard (Kenneth), Susan Selph; grandsons, Charles Dyer, David Harris; brother, Tom Hemphill; and sister, Mary Swanson (Ray). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong Missionary (SBC) at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. A memorial service will be Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10 o’clock at the chapel of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church with Clay Ramsey officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. Interment was at the Hemphill family cemetery on July 27, 2011 in Chatsworth, GA.
