David was born on December 7, 1954 in Ganado, Texas to parents James Thomas Fricks and Betty Butler Fricks. He was the oldest of three boys. David grew up in Smyrna, Georgia and attended Pebblebrook High School. He went to work for Georgia Power Southern Company and spent the majority of his career at Plant Yates, retiring after working there for almost 40 years.
David enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and his daily visits to Waffle House. He was extremely kind, gentle, and humble, and he always worried about others before thinking about himself. He was a quiet man, but those who knew him well got to experience his dry humor and sharp wit. He had a great sense of humor. David never liked to complain or be a burden to anyone if he could help it. Even when he was very sick, his standard response was to say he was “doing just fine.” He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
David is survived by his daughters, Amy Kuhns (Tom) and Valerie Cohn (Seth), and by his grandchildren Grayson Holland, Aaron Cohn, and Jacob Cohn, and by his two brothers, Daniel Fricks (Loretta), and Thomas Fricks (Peggy).
The visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel, Sandy Springs, Georgia, on September 14, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Following the visitation, a private burial service for family will take place at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice (because that is what David would have wanted).
