Ann ( Ethel) Diener (Steinmeyer), age 77, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Sanford, Florida. A lifelong resident of Sanford, Ann was born there on May 28, 1948, and remained deeply rooted in the community she loved.
Ann graduated from the Seminole Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology as a x- ray technologist and went on to dedicate over four decades to the medical field. Her most cherished professional years were spent at a family practice in Sanford, where she worked for 26 years and almost all of those years alongside Dr. Charles Hardwick. He treated Ann and Peter like family. Ann’s commitment to her patients and colleagues left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In 1968, Ann married Peter Diener after meeting him while he was stationed in Sanford with the U.S. Navy. Their enduring love spanned more than five decades, and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary—a testament to their deep bond and shared life together.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Peter; her daughter Kristen Harris and son-in-law Walter Harris; her son Ryan Diener and daughter-in-law Frenchen Ramos; her brother Leon Steinmeyer Jr. and his wife Celia, sister Joyce Thompson and her husband Carl, and her grandchildren, Charlotte, Ashton, Isabella, Noah, and Liam. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Bruce, Jerry, Amy, Rebecca, Stephen, Marcus, and Brian. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great joy in spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Mary Steinmeyer.
Outside of her professional life and family commitments, Ann found joy in simple pleasures—she loved to cook hearty meals for those she cared about and took pride in tending to her garden. She absolutely loved spending the afternoons in her yard planting new flowers. Her Christian faith was an important part of her life and guided her with strength and grace.
Ann’s warmth, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
