Carolyn Matthews, 80, of Sanford, Florida passed away on October 24, 2016. She was born in Blair, Illinois on January 25, 1936 to Otto Mercer Pursell and Genelle Earnestine Pierson. Carolyn lived in Illinois until 1984 when she moved to Tennessee; in 1999 she made the move to Florida with her husband to be with her daughter and son in law. Carolyn enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and watching football and basketball on the television. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 62 years Donald Matthews along with her son Kurt (Dawn) Matthews, her daughter Deborah (David) Kramer, grandchildren Chad (Melissa) Norman, Luke Norman and Kelcie Matthews and great-grandchildren Kylie Norman, Karlie Norman, Tanner Norman, Joesphine Norman and Everett Norman. She also leaves behind her sisters Iris Bailey and Martha Potts. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Carolyn's name.
