Catherine Jeanette Shea

Catherine J. Shea, age 57, of Deland passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born September 26, 1958 in Dunkirk, New York, she later established her home in Central Florida after a New Year’s Eve blind date with the man who would be her husband and best friend, John Joseph Shea. They were married for 37 years. Catherine was passionate about her life’s work as President of C & JJ Enterprises. Later, she retired from the Transportation Security Administration in 2012. She was a true professional with an amazing sense of humor and the ability to deliver it at just the right moment. She loved decorating, calligraphy and the mountains of Western North Carolina. She had the most generous and loving heart. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. Catherine is survived by her husband John Joseph Shea; her daughter Patricia C. Garner and her husband James; her sons J. Timothy Shea and his wife Cheryl and David S. Shea and his wife Susan; and her grandchildren Logan, Colin, Aiden, Sarahanne, Zack, Adam, Jacob, Kory, Sandralee, Shane, Jessica, Samantha and Audrey. Catherine requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, South Hadley, Massachusetts.
