Her “Celebration of Life” will be held on Thursday, September 16th from 5-7 PM at the Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel located at 5000 CR-46A E Sanford, FL 32771.
Debra Gilbert, née Baker, was born in Chardon, Ohio to Geraldine Walker on July 27, 1953. She loved to read her bible and help people in need. She always had a smile on her face and could be depended on to lend a helping hand whenever she could. Her laughter was infectious and people around her could not help but to laugh with her therefore bring joy to those she was around. Married twice, to two service members, she worked tirelessly to support their military careers and commands, often as a civilian liaison or ombudsman. She passionately worked in southwest Alabama as a caregiver and confidante, and throughout her life, she gave of her energy and time to neighborhood women and children’s organizations.
Debra is preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Jim Compton, and sister Beverly Staton.
Debra is survived by her children, Patrick Gilbert (Arata), Heidi Caragan (Charles), and Robert Gilbert, brothers Scott Compton (Schelah), Dale Compton (Michelle), and David Baker, grandson’s Ren Gilbert and Chandler Caragan (Estefania), and great-granddaughter Lexa Caragan.
