Evelyn Carol Evans

Evelyn Evans, 85, of Sanford, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2024. Born on August 13, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, Evelyn was a beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and creativity touched all who knew her.

Evelyn was blessed to find the love of her life, Clyde Evans, to whom she was happily married for 48 years. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and community. A passionate and dedicated woman, Evelyn devoted her career to caring for children, sharing her kindness and joy with the many she nurtured. She was an avid member of Longwood Baptist Church, where she found friendship and purpose, serving her church community with unwavering devotion.

Evelyn’s creativity flourished through her love of arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed painting ceramics, stamping and making handmade cards, spreading joy and thoughtfulness through her beautiful creations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde; her parents, James and Mary McDaniel; and her siblings, James McDaniel and Gloria Huffman. Evelyn’s spirit and legacy continue through her siblings, Rita Platfoot, Dennis McDaniel, and Ruth Cain; her son, Jeff Whitaker; and her cherished granddaughters, Sophie Holloway and Siv Jane Whitaker.

Evelyn will be remembered for her gentle heart, creative spirit, and unwavering faith. Her family and friends find comfort knowing that she is at peace and reunited with those she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. The graveside service will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery at 3 pm.
