He was born in Tazewell, Virginia on November 17, 1933 and graduated from Bramwell High School. Pete served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years and worked as an x-Ray/Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Palmetto Avenue Baptist Church, had a passion for working in his and neighbor’s yards, helping at the church, doing painting, and lawn care.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Florance Carver Woods Vance; son, Guy Vance; grandson, Christopher Vance; mother, Nellie Boothe Vance Shelton; father, Clifton R. “Clint” Vance; stepfather, Louie E. Shelton; and brother, William H. “Jim” Vance.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Lynne (Steve) Cosgriff; son, Gary (Lou Ann) Vance, stepchildren, Edward and Kira Woods; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, FL 32771. The family will receive friends and guests from 10am until service time. Interment with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
