

George Junior Stiffey, 82, of Sanford, passed away Sunday August 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Stiffey was born on May 26, 1940 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to mother, Mary Shoup and was raised by his father George Alvin Stiffey and step-mother, Ornetta (Garland) Stiffey. He was loved immensely by all who were blessed to have known him.
George Stiffey was a man of humble beginnings who lost his mother early in life. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather who took special pride in all endeavors of his children and grandchildren, and he was married to the love of his life, Jeannette for 59 years. Mr. Stiffey dedicated his life to leading others to Christ and was a proud member of the Sanford Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and elder for over 45 years until the time of his death.
George served in the United States Navy from 1960 To 1966, which brought him to Florida to the Sanford Naval Station, having served on an aircraft carrier during that time. After the military, he was a dedicated employee of the Florida Power Corporation, which is now Duke Energy, working at both the St. Johns River Turner plant in Enterprise, and the nuclear plant in Crystal River during his two years leading up to retirement. George (and wife Jeannette) are well known in the Sanford, Florida area for their tremendous community support in providing goods for those in need, and providing support for various charitable organizations, as well as lifetime support for the sports programs at Seminole High School. George was well known for his warm smile and witty humor with all.
Mr. Stiffey is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lillie Jeannette (Clark)Stiffey, of Sanford, one son, Thomas W. Stiffey, his wife Cynthia (Muse)Stiffey, and their two sons, Ryan Stiffey and his wife to be Aimee Halpin, Brandon Stiffey and his wife Megan (Priske) Stiffey, all of Sanford, Florida; daughter Sandy (Stiffey) Hauck, her husband Jerry Hauck, their daughter Megan Hauck, and their son, Nicholas Hauck, of Windermere, Florida; and daughter Stacy (Stiffey) Phillips, her husband Byron Phillips, and their daughter, Jordon Phillips, all of Sanford, Florida. He is also survived by brothers; Randy Stiffey of Deltona, Florida; Tim Garland, and Kevin Stiffey and sisters; Janice Stiffey and Kim Ross, all of Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews.
