

She was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on November 29, 1951. She graduated from High School in Puerto Rico. At the age of 19 she came to New York City where she studied Cosmetology and was a licensed hairstylist for many years. She later attended Monroe College majoring in communications.
She was married to the love of her life Felix A. Oquendo. Lupe loved to cook and feed anyone who entered her home. She also had a passion for event planning. She would decorate homes and venues for birthdays and weddings. On her down time, she enjoyed watching her novelas, and would provide daily novela updates to anyone willing to listen. She was also fond of traveling, visiting family and friends. Her daily routine included sending motivational messages to family and friends. Her family was her life. She had 4 biological children and 5 by marriage. She lived in NYC for over 45+ years where she planted her roots and later retired in Lake Mary, Florida where she lived with her daughter and granddaughter. Although she worked for many years as a hairstylist, she would say her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and caring for her family. She lived a great life always following the word of the Lord, our God almighty.
She was preceded in death by her husband Felix A. Oquendo, her Parents Celestino & Lucy Elenia Caban, and brother Alejandro Caban.
She is survived by her children Santos, Nelson, Vivian, and King. Her stepchildren: Leslye, Tony, Mark, Jean Paul, and Anthony. Her grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Lesleyann, Kearsten, Kaiser, Jayla, Leah, Phoebe, Dylan, Brandon, Brian, Felix, Leslye, Antonio, and Alex . Her siblings: Marcos, Olga, Maria, Nereida, Aida, Gladys, Joey, Awilda, and John.
A visitation for Guadalupe will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 COUNTY ROAD 46A, SANFORD, FL 32771. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Nativity Catholic Church, 3255 N Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, FL 32750. A committal service will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 5000 COUNTY ROAD 46A, SANFORD, FL 32771.
