Josefina Ortiz

Josefina nació en una familia numerosa (11 hermanos en total) en Canóvanas, Puerto Rico. Después de terminar la escuela secundaria, obtuvo un título asociado en Ciencias Secretariales. Conoció a su esposo Eladio en una clase de mecanografía en el Colegio de Comercio de Puerto Rico en Río Piedras, cuando Eladio necesito ayuda con la asignatura de mecanografía. Josefina y Eladio se casaron luego de que ella terminara la carrera de Ciencias Secretariales. Estuvieron casados por 65 años residiendo en Apopka y Orlando, FL durante las últimas décadas. Josefina trabajó como tasadora de propiedades en el Departamento de Registro de la Propiedad de Puerto Rico hasta su jubilación. Amaba las flores, las plantas y los animales. Ella también disfrutó viajar con su esposo al extranjero, lo cual tuvo la suerte de hacer más tarde en su vida. Sus mayores alegrías en la vida fueron sus hijas, sus nietos y biznietos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres José Estrada y Juana Encarnación y sus hermanos Eliezer, Aurelio y Juan.

Le sobreviven su esposo Eladio Ortiz, sus hijas Zaida Ortiz (Kenneth), Aurora Ortiz (Tomas), Norma Gonzalez (Carlos) y Nydia Ortiz (Raul). También le sobreviven 10 nietos, 8 biznietos y sus hermanos: Saturnino, Jose Antonio, Luz Delia, Isabel, Sonia, Hilda, William, muchos sobrinos y primos.

Josefina was born in a big family (11 siblings in total) in Canovanas, Puerto Rico. After finishing high school, she pursued an associate degree in Secretarial Sciences. She met her husband Eladio in a typing class at the Puerto Rico College of Commerce in Rio Piedras when Eladio needed help with his typing skills. Josefina and Eladio got married after she finished her degree in Secretarial Sciences. They were married for 65 years, residing in Apopka and Orlando, FL for the last several decades. Josefina worked as a property appraisal at the Puerto Rico Property Registration Department until her retirement. She loved flowers, plants, and animals. She also enjoyed traveling abroad with her husband, which she was able to do later in life. Her greatest joys in life were her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Estrada and Juana Encarnacion and her siblings Eliezer, Aurelio, and Juan.

She is survived by her husband Eladio Ortiz, her daughters Zaida Ortiz (Kenneth), Aurora Ortiz (Tomas), Norma Gonzalez (Carlos) and Nydia Ortiz (Raul). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her siblings: Saturnino, Jose Antonio, Luz Delia, Isabel, Sonia, Hilda, William, many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A visitation for Josefina will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 COUNTY ROAD 46A, SANFORD, FL 32771. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday with interment at 12:00 PM to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 5000 COUNTY ROAD 46A, SANFORD, FL 32771.
